Researcher | Writer | Educator

Welcome to my space!

I am Shruti, an Assistant Professor of English and a researcher working on narratives of sex workers and marginalised communities in India. I completed my PhD in Modern Indian Languages and Literary Studies from the University of Delhi. I read, write, and think about stories in literature, in cinema, and in everyday life. Much of my work grows from questions of voice, dignity, and representation. This space brings together my academic work, creative writing, and ongoing explorations.

Research

My research focuses on the narratives of sex workers and other marginalised communities in India, particularly how they represent themselves in literature and media. I am interested in questions of voice, dignity, and self-representation, and in how storytelling becomes a form of resistance. More broadly, I study contemporary Indian media, including film and advertising, as cultural texts that shape and reflect social attitudes around gender, class, and sexuality. I am also interested in how readers and audiences respond to these narratives, and what those responses reveal about our social realities.
